US regime blames Syria for fighters sent to Iraq from Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is sending foreign fighters and al-Qaeda leaders into Iraq to support the resistance against the US occupation.
Yet the US regime responds by announcing new calls for tough action against Syria, claiming (as usual without citing any evidence) that some of these "terrorists" pass through Syrian territory on their way to Iraq. As a US client state, the Saudis are let off the hook.
This is blatantly illogical, yet it is typical of American pre-war propaganda. As usual the loyal US corporate media report the story without question and universally fails to comment on the contradictions.
Most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi nationals, and none of them were from Afghanistan or Iraq. Iraq has always strongly opposed al-Qaida and many other radical terrorist groups, unlike the US regime which financed and trained Bin Laden and his cohorts during the Cold War when it suited them.
