Da Vinci Code movie release timed to Knights Templar deadline

The Da Vinci Code movie release is timed to the year before the seventh centenary of the persecution of the Templars in 2007. The year 2006 is particularly special because 13th October falls on a Friday, echoing the last day of the Templars.

This blockbuster movie  is slated for release on 19 May 2006. Group Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture, Amy Pascal, called it "the cornerstone" of the movie slate for that year. The film stars Tom Hanks and is based on the best-selling book by Dan Brown.

The Knights Templar have set the Pope a deadline of 13th October 2007 to apologise for the persecution of the Order.
